Brent Setterington – Keys / Arrangements
Brent Setterington has played the local Niagara scene extensively, debuting with the Jazz Combo he co-created with Peter Shea in their high school days. He has been gigging professionally ever since. As one of the original keyboardists in Niagara’s beloved LMT CONNECTION, Brent cut his teeth on old jazz and funk soul records from the Motown era.
As co-writer, arranger, keyboardist, and musical director of the funk-soul outfit Jacksoul, Brent and Haydain Neale created a unique sound that landed them a major recording contract with BMG in 1995.
Special guest: Leroy Emmanuel – Guitar
Leroy Emmanuel is a Detroit-born guitarist, singer, and songwriter known for his deep roots in soul, R&B, funk, and blues. He began his professional music career as a young teenager, earning early work in Detroit’s vibrant music scene and performing and recording with legendary artists such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight & the Pips, ZZ Hill, and others during the Motown and soul era. Emmanuel was an original member of The Counts and also became a featured player with noted funk artist Hamilton Bohannon, appearing on numerous albums.
In 1989 he co-founded the Canadian funk-soul trio LMT Connection (based in Niagara, Ontario), where he serves as guitarist and lead vocalist. The band blends R&B, jazz, and funk into what they call “Universal Soul” and has recorded multiple albums and toured extensively in North America and Europe. Emmanuel’s guitar style fuses jazz sensibilities with hard funk and soulful expression, and he has been an active performer and teacher for over four decades.
